The Maintenance Assistant provides support to the Estates Team and performs general maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance across the Estate as required. The college campus (comprising 19 buildings across an 8-acre site) is a listed building; following on a complete refurbishment in 2011, the site has many up-to-date building systems such as CCTV, fire alarms, lighting and heating of apartments, en-suite guestrooms, classrooms, offices, kitchen, dining room, childcare facilities, gym and even a museum, so no day is ever dull.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Heating and Air conditioning systems maintenance
- Performing plumbing tasks, which can include unclogging drains as well as fixing leaking taps and toilets
- Complete repair work that includes painting, flooring repair and upkeep, electrical repairs
- Perform portering duties when office/flat/house or other equipment requires moving
- Engage with the Estate Team and wider Business Services Unit staff and other departments
- Support the Estates Team with their regular PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) schedule and assist with other maintenance tasks across the site as required
- Performing general maintenance and repair of the building, grounds, and equipment.
- Maintain a high level of Health and Safety awareness in own tasks and generally across the campus.
